Proficiency Testing

Medium and High Complexity Laboratories are required to participate in proficiency testing on each of their Medium and High complexity Analyzers. This incleds enrolling in a particular Proficiency Testing program and performing the proficiency testing on outside materials in the exact manner the are perfromed on normal patient samples. This provides external verification that an analyzer is functioning in the way that it should.

Enroll in a proficiency testing program.

Order proficiency test materials by required date

When materials arrive, perform proficiency testing as described in instructions.

Record results and submit to the laboratory director.

The laboratory Director submits results to the proficiency testing program (In our case the American Proficiency Institute) by date required either online or via mail.
