Since October,2010 I have been evaluating Openemr and customizing it for the South African Market.

I have formed a company name TajEmo Enterprises(TEE) and then went about customizing Openemr for Dr. Appavoo’s Medical Practice in East London with the initial installed Openemr Version 3.2 installed in November 2010.

Openemr has since been upgraded to the latest releases with its new Version 4.0 in March, 2011. Dr Appavoo has embraced the change to the new version and is pleased with current upgraded version. This application has progressed with reasonable success for the last 6-12 months.

TEE has been setup as a privately held company co-owned by Mohambry Appavoo and Craig Bezuidenhout. Mohambry has extensive experience in the IT Industry for 40 years ranging from Software Development, Project and Business Management and IT Management, while Craig has worked in Sales and Marketing and Software Support, Development and Web Development for 10 years. Both partners will be taking hands-on roles in the company. In addition, our major advisor Dr. Daya Appavoo will provide practice management expertise and critique to help TEE provide and efficient service to the Medical Industry of South Africa.

Our Business Objective is as follows:-

TajEmo Enterprises (TEE) offers a customized, optimized version of OpenEMR, which is a medical practice management tool. OpenEMR manages electronic medical records, prescription writing, and medical billing including dispensing. The clinical benefits of computerized medical records are clear, however, the costs of current proprietary systems are high. These high cost systems inhibit many small practices from transitioning to computerized medical records and billing. OpenEMR is a FREE open source EMR system, which has been downloaded and customized for the South African Market by TEE.
