OpenEMR Upgrade Guides

If you are not using the Ubuntu/Debian package, then upgrading OpenEMR needs to be done manually. The INSTALL file in the main directory of OpenEMR outlines a strategy that should be used when upgrading OpenEMR. Also, as of version 3.1.0 OpenEMR is 100% UTF-8; read HERE if you are upgrading from a previous version to see if it makes sense to also upgrade your mysql database to UTF-8.

Linux

Below are instructions for original source OpenEMR package:

• Upgrade 3.0.1 to 3.1.0

Below are instructions for Ubuntu/Debian OpenEMR package:

• Upgrade 3.0.1 to 3.1.0

Below are upgrades that have been documented for the OpenEMR Appliance. Although these are specific to the Appliance, the process can be generalized to native OpenEMR:

• Upgrade 3.0.1 to 3.1.0
• Upgrade 2.8.3 to 3.0.1
• Upgrade 2.8.2 to 2.8.3
• Upgrade 2.8.1 to 2.8.2

Windows

Below are instructions for original source OpenEMR package and the XAMPP package:

• Upgrade 3.0.1 to 3.1.0
• Upgrade 2.9.1 to 3.0.1: This upgrade assumes you do not have sql-ledger installed, and assumes you have php-gacl installed externally.
