OpenEMR Upgrade Guides

If you are not using the Ubuntu/Debian, then upgrading OpenEMR needs to be done manually. The INSTALL file in the main directory of OpenEMR outlines a strategy that should be used when upgrading OpenEMR. Also, as of version 3.1.0 OpenEMR is 100% UTF-8; read HERE if you are upgrading from a previous version to see if it makes sense to also upgrade your mysql database to UTF-8.
Linux original source OpenEMR package
- Upgrade 4.2.0 to 4.2.1 (Plan to release OpenEMR 4.2.1 in early January, 2016)
- Upgrade 4.1.2 to 4.2.0
- Upgrade 4.1.1 to 4.1.2
- Upgrade 4.1.0 to 4.1.1
- Upgrade 4.0.0 to 4.1.0
- Upgrade 3.2.0 to 4.0.0

OpenEMR Appliance
- OpenEMR 4.1.2 and 4.2.0 Appliances are not available and no plans to support this in the future.
- An up-to-date appliance can be configured via Upgrading the 4.1.1 Appliance to 4.2.0.
