Overview

The ICD9, ICD10, SNOMED and RxNorm standardized data sets can be easily imported (and upgraded) into OpenEMR. See below for specific instructions. (Note this feature is available in OpenEMR version 4.1.1 and higher.)

Import/Upgrade and activate ICD9

  • Go to Administration->Other->'External Data Loads'
  • Click ICD9
  • Follow the instructions
  • If you get the following sql error after you click INSTALL ("Error: The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version"), then you can also upload the code set by downloading this file and importing at Administration->Database->Import. (Warning: Only do this if you get an error using the standard import mechanism.)
  • ICD9 diagnosis (and service) codes can be activated at Administration->Lists->Code Types
