OpenEMR is the acronym for Open Electronic Medical Record or Electronic Medical File Open. They are:

1)Open because the code is written in the program is free to the public. Consistency is the same program offered for free use.

2)e, because it is based entirely on the computer (even over a network) and aspires to remove the print media. The result is the safety of the taftochrongi access by multiple users and ease the processing of data.

3)Medical File because it is the complete system for recording data and information for patients, regardless of the type and source, to any health structure, from private practice to large hospital centers.

  More specific functions tailored to the Greek practice:

1) fully localized environment operation

2) use of disease classification system ICD-10 in the Greek

3) use of more recent driver of the National Medicines Agency (2007)
